Seven riwayat, three scripts

Most apps ship one reading. EsSiraj ships ten text editions: the three rasm of Hafs 'an 'Asim (Uthmani, simplified, simplified with full vowelling) and seven further riwayat — Qalun and Warsh from Nafi', al-Bazzi and Qunbul from Ibn Kathir, al-Duri and al-Susi from Abu 'Amr, and Shu'ba from 'Asim. These are not alternative spellings of the same text: they number the verses differently, and 52 of the 114 surahs do not have the same count. That is why EsSiraj carries an alignment table — so when you switch to Warsh, the tafsir, the bookmark and the memorisation record still point at the verse you meant, not at the one that happens to share a number.

  • Three Hafs scripts: Uthmani, simplified, simplified with full vowelling
  • Seven riwayat: Qalun, Warsh, al-Bazzi, Qunbul, al-Duri, al-Susi, Shu'ba
  • Verse-numbering alignment so tafsir and notes follow you across editions
  • Switch edition from the reading settings, at any moment
  • Every edition bundled in the app — no download, no connection
  • The riwaya you choose is remembered per profile

FAQ

Questions about this feature

Which riwayat does EsSiraj include?

Qalun 'an Nafi', Warsh 'an Nafi', al-Bazzi 'an Ibn Kathir, Qunbul 'an Ibn Kathir, al-Duri 'an Abi 'Amr, al-Susi 'an Abi 'Amr and Shu'ba 'an 'Asim — beside the three rasm of Hafs 'an 'Asim.

Do the verse numbers change between riwayat?

Yes, and that is the hard part. 52 of the 114 surahs are numbered differently. EsSiraj keeps an alignment table so a bookmark, a note, a memorisation record or a tafsir entry made in one edition still resolves to the correct verse in another.

Is Warsh available offline?

Every edition, including all seven riwayat, is bundled inside the app. Nothing is fetched at reading time.
